Prolonged exposure to stress, fearful/dangerous situations or perceived stressful/dangerous situations do not allow the nervous system to take a break. When we do not effectively manage the stress, it can and often does lead to an anxiety.
The body gets emotionally and physically exhausted from constant living in an emergency mode. The consequences may include irritability, fatigue, rapid and disorganized thoughts, difficulty concentrating, difficulty to make decisions, sleeplessness, digestive symptoms, aches and pains or even autoimmune disorders.
